Hello, we are Elisabeth and Benjamin

Since 2005, we have been cultivating around 8 hectares of vineyards around Großkrut, from which we make 20 different wines.

We mostly enjoy our work and find fulfilment here.

Our winery

The vineyards around Großkrut, Althöflein and Ginzersdorf are located on loess soils or on sandy shell limestone.

The vineyards are cultivated with great care in order to do justice to the typicality of the individual varieties. The grapes are harvested by hand because we are convinced that this is the only way to get the best quality grapes - and because it is simply fun.

We work responsibly and do not use any pesticides. We also regulate weeds purely mechanically to protect our soil and bees.

The harvest is processed in the press house on the Kellerberg, where the mash can be treated gently thanks to the natural gradient. The cellar consists of two vaults with different depths. The white wine is stored in the lower, cooler part. The red wine matures optimally in the higher, moist vault.

Our second press house, right next to our wine cellar, is used as a wine tavern when we have an "open cellar".

The terrace in front of the cellar is a popular meeting place for tasting our wines, especially during the warmer months.

Benjamin

attended the secondary school for viticulture and fruit growing in Klosterneuburg. After graduating, he spent some time working in Australia. Since then, each year has enriched his wealth of experience with its own peculiarities and challenges.

Any problems that arise are solved with great patience and an interest in technical finesse. Benjamin relaxes by playing with his daughter Karoline and son Josef and, when they are asleep, by reading Norwegian crime novels.

Elisabeth

Having grown up in the Bucklige Welt, Elisabeth got to know and love wine and the Weinviertel region after her studies at BOKU, Benjamin. She quickly settled into the business and works as an organisational talent in the background and always has an overview of which tasks and appointments are pending.

She works with great idealism on the large garden, which unfolds into a paradise of Paradeis at the end of August.

Monika

grew up in the Black Forest and finds working in the vineyard a good balance to her work as a doctor and psychotherapist. As a sociable person, she feels really at home when family, friends, acquaintances and customers come together during the harvest and the vineyards and cellar are filled with hustle and bustle. Monika also enjoys cooking and the results of this passion can be tasted every month at the 'Open Cellar'. Monika's penchant for flea markets and second-hand shops means that Heribert has to lug heavy suitcases on many a journey, for which he is rewarded with a good dinner.

Heribert
